Shutdown in Pulwama on militant’s anniversary

Pulwama: A shutdown was observed on Monday in Pulwama town and adjoining areas on the second death anniversary of a local militant.
Minor incidents of stone throwing were also reported throughout the day.
Nobody however was injured in the clashes.
Later in the evening, sources said, militants offered a gun salute to Omais Ahmad Sheikh in the main town.
Omais Ahmad Sheikh alias Abu Hamza, son of Farooq Ahmad of Chatpora village was killed on this day in 2015 in Ajas village of Bandipora.
Local sources said shops and commercial establishments remained closed in Pulwama town. Traffic too remained thin on the roads.
