Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in Tral and Pampore areas of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killing of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) commander Noor Muhammad alias Noora.
Eye witnesses said that all shops and other commercial establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads.
Slain militant commander Noor Muhammad was native of Tral.
The government also suspended mobile Internet and train service in south Kashmir in view of killing of the top JeM commander.
However, train service from Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north will continue and all trains will operate as per schedule, said a railway official.
He said an advisory has been received from police to suspend train in south Kashmir on Tuesday.
Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Badgam-Srinagar to Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.
An official said that Internet service was suspended “as a precautionary measure” to prevent the spreading of rumours.
