Summoning of Geelani’s son
SRINAGAR: Resistance leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Sunday said summoning the kith and kin of resistance leadership by NIA and ED is aimed at forcing it (leadership) for talks with Delhi’s envoy.
Mirwaiz and Malik in a joint statement said “forcing one for talks by bullying is ridiculous”. The statement came a day after the NIA summoned Syed Naseem Geelani, son of Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani, to Delhi.
“Summoning Syed Naseem Geelani is an act of vengeance and harassment,” Mirwaiz and Malik said. “It (New Delhi) now wants us to talk to its envoy by intimidating us and this summoning of kith and kin by NIA is one example of this ‘forced talks policy’.”
“The tyrannical and bullying policies of Indian rulers, their Kashmiri abettors and agencies have failed in past and are bound to fail in future too, and we want to tell these oppressors that their policies can never force Kashmiris into submission and our resistance will continue with much more zeal and passion.”
Leaders said besides arresting many resistance leaders, businessmen, journalists, including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Zahoor Ahmad Watali, Kamran Yousuf, Javid Ahmad and Shahid Yousuf Shah, and putting them in Tihar Jail, Indian rulers by using NIA and ED have time and again summoned hundreds of others including both sons of Syed Ali Geelani to Delhi, wasting their precious time by “intimidating and humiliating” them.
Mirwaiz and Malik said NIA and ED have been “terrorising” scribes and businessmen of high repute, lawyers and jurists, intellectuals, political workers, leaders and even teenage kids and students in the name of terror funding.
“Calling people to Delhi, threatening them of dire consequences, making propaganda through biased Indian media especially news channels and even putting many people in Tihar Jail on concocted charges or in the name of investigation is all a well-knitted plan of Indian rulers and their Kashmiri abettors who on one hand try to fool their own people about Kashmir and on the other side want to put Kashmiris into submission and stop resisting Indian hegemony and illegal occupation.”
They said many resistance leaders like Shabir Ahmad Shah and Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali who are lodged in Tihar Jail for the last many months are denied proper medical facility by “oppressors”.
“After failing to defeat Kashmiri resistance by military might, pellet terrorism, blinding, arresting thousands including young, old youth and women, looting and vandalising people’s properties, beating and torturing common people, clamping repeated curfews and restrictions in towns and market places especially in Shehr-e-Khaas and Lal Chowk, Srinagar and hence destroying business of Kashmiris, putting a blanket ban on all political activities and arresting or house detention of leaders on daily basis, India has started a new kind of ploy to crush the people’s resistance,” Mirwaiz and Malik said.
