Budgam villagers block road to protest against police

Budgam: Traffic came to standstill after villagers in central Kashmir’s Budgam district blocked the Poshker Magam road at Sharan stop on Monday morning after police allegedly held a Sumo vehicle without any reason.
Villagers told Kashmir Reader that police held a Sumo of a local boy last evening when he was asked by the police men to drop them at police station located at Khag.
“After the boy dropped them at police station Khag the police men he was carrying asked him to visit station head,” they alleged.
“He was asked to keep the vehicle there till he would not show necessary documents,” they said.
“It is high handedness of police. If they want to check documents, check on road. What it means to take the vehicle for one purpose and seize it without any reason?” they asked.
Station House Officer (SHO) Khag Mohammad Aslam told Kashmir Reader that the vehicle was held while checking on road.
“We asked him to show documents but he left the sumo there,” Aslam said.
“Can’t we check the vehicle,” Aslam asked.
Sources however said that the vehicle was later released by police.
