NHM employees extend strike

SRINAGAR: National Health Mission (NHM) employees on Friday extended their strike for another 72 hours demanding regularization of their services.
The employee association took the decision at Pratap Park on the second day of their sit-in-protest.
Musadiq Rafiq, Vice President J&K National Health Mission Coordination Committee, said that the reason for prolonging the strike was the ‘confusion’ within the government.
“On one hand Health Minister says that our case has been referred to Finance department for regularization process while as yesterday Minister of State Asiya Naqash said that they have not received the file yet,” Rafiq said. “We have not got any black and white papers from the government so we decided to continue the strike.”
Asked about the impact of strike on health services, Rafiq held the government responsible. “Time and again for last several years we have requested government to regularize our services as per Supreme Court ruling but they did not pay heed to our genuine demands.”
