Srinagar: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will open four new study centres in Kashmir and Ladakh.
“The new centers will be established at Nubrah (Leh), DH Pora in Kulgam, Gurez in Bandipora and Uri in Baramulla. We have already study Centres in Tangdhar (Karnah) in Kupwara and at Central Jail Srinagar, Mirza Nehal A Baig, Regional Director IGONU said at a press conference here.
Baig added: Now we are also offering admissions in five PG specialised Diplomas in Management without the requirement of OPEN MAT for January 2018 Admission.”
The five post graduate programmes which IGONU has announced directs admission for the students includes human resource management, financial management, operations management, marketing management and financial markets practice.
“Earlier qualification of OPEN MAT/CAT was the pre-requisite for taking admission in these programmes, now it has been waived off.” said Baig.
He also announced complete waiver of admission, Re-registration and examination fee for jail inmates. University has also waived off the admission and re-registration fee of SC & ST candidates in all Bachelors Degree Programmes like BCA, BA, BCOM, BSC, and BTS,” he added.
Presently the Regional Centre Srinagar is having 43 operational Study centrtes in every district of the Kashmir division with around 33, 000 enrolments in 2017 only in various academic programmes of the University ranging.
During 30th Convocation, RC Srinagar produced the largest number of Master’s Degree recipients (8715) in India and overall it is placed fourth in ranking, he said.
He also said Indira Gandhi National Open University has signed an MOU with Common Service Centre (CSC), e-Governance Services India Ltd.
He added: With this arrangement all the prospective-cum-existing learners can access the important services like new Registration (Admission) including scanning, uploading of documents/photographs/signature etc, Re-Registration, submission of examination forms and taking printout copies thereof by making a nominal payment of 5 to 60 rupees,”
IGNOU will hold a Workshop to train the Common Service Centres (CSC) VLEs along with the State Head of CSC. The list of the authorized CSC/VLE would be uploaded on the Regional Centre website for the reference.
