Baramulla: The unemployed tourism degree holders are up in arms against the government for not referring vacancies of tourism professionals to recruitment agencies.
The professionals said that they have been waiting for advertisement of vacancies in tourism department for a long time, “Not a single post has been filled up in the department from last two decades which is matter of concern,” he said.
“The state government has been indifferent towards our career. There are hundreds of tourism professionals moving from pillar to post to get jobs, but government hardly bothers to avail their services to improve the tourism sector in Kashmir,” Sajad Ahmad, a graduate in tourism studies said.
Syed Javid Ahmad another tourism degree holder said: On no one hand government boosts of tourism sector in Kashmir valley but on the other hand there are only few employees in the tourism department and most of them are going to retire in next few months.”
Javid said that tourism department had published a list of over two hundred employees for the promotion but only 24 employees have diploma and degree in tourism rest of them have 10th and 12th pass qualification.
