Budgam: Fire broke out in Police station Beerwah, damaging its building completely in the wee hours on Tuesday.
Police sources said that at around 3:45am, flames were seen in the second floor of the station by personnel sleeping there.
“They raised an alarm and the men started to take the ammunition and records out safely,” police said.
They said the intensity of flames was too high, and fire tenders were called to douse the flames.
The two storey building was fully damaged in the fire, although six fire tenders were pressed into service, witnesses said.
SSP Budgam Tijinder Singh told Kashmir Reader that it was an accidental fire and the ammunition and records were safe.
“However, the belongings like clothes and personal gadgets got damaged in the fire,” he said.
