Srinagar: A shutdown is being observed in the Kashmir valley on Wednesday to protest the killing of a lady during clashes between protesters and government forces in a Shopian village yesterday.
The shutdown has been called by the pro-freedom amalgam, Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL).
As per reports from all the ten districts of the valley, shops and other business establishments are closed however private transport was plying on roads.
Two militants were killed in a gunfight at Batamarun village of the district during which people came out to help militants escape. However, forces used force to disperse the protesters resulting in the killing of a young lady and injuring of dozens. Police however said that the lady was killed in cross firing between militants and forces.
