SRINAGAR: Sectarian differences in Muslims won’t end till Qayamah (the Day of Judgement) and the people who rise to end these differences end up creating a new sect, said Chairperson of Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) Dr Muhammad Qasim on Monday.
In a statement, Qasim said, “When great ulema (scholars of Islam) like Imam Ibn Taimiyah and Shah Wali Ullah couldn’t end these differences, today’s ulema, who don’t enjoy such command over knowledge and acceptance among Ummah, can’t achieve it.”
“Therefore, it is wise that these differences are accepted and the ulema of Salafi, Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi and Hanbali schools unite to counter those so-called modern day scholars who are working on the dictations of American RAND corporation which is working on developing a new edition of Islam by altering its belief and ideological systems through agencies like building moderate Muslim networks.”
Qasim said the “liberal moderate” scholars in the name of research and Ijtihad are trying to create a wedge between the two basic sources of Islam – Qur’an and Hadith and want to interpret the Qur’an the way they like.
“They want to limit the universality of the Prophethood of Rasool Ullah (SAW) to the Arabs. However, as Allah has promised the protection of Qur’an till the Last Day so will He protect the Prophethood of Muhammad (SAW),” he said. “These scholars are very active in countries like Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Britain and USA and media is giving them all out publicity.”
“We request the scholars of all sects to set aside their differences and stop wasting resources on negating each other; instead put up a joint resistance against these liberal scholars who are hell bent to change the beliefs and practices of Islam which are prevalent since the times of Rasoolullah (SAW) as their deviant teachings have found their way into Kashmir,” MDM chief said.
