SRINAGAR: Strongly condemning the “brutal” killing of Asif Iqbal of Thandipora, Kupwara by government forces, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Monday said the killing of an innocent driver has again proved the fact that “New Delhi is at a killing spree in Kashmir”.
A DFP statement issued here said that forces having unbridled powers and impunity under black laws like AFSPA kill people at their will so that Kashmiri people are silenced.
“Thousands of Kashmiris have been killed in such cold blood and merciless manner and not even a single soldier or policemen involved has ever been brought to book or tried by law which only exhibits the lack of accountability of the Indian forces,” the statement said.
Terming the killing of Asif Iqbal as a “cold blooded murder”, the DFP said “every lane of Kashmir has been turned red with the blood of innocent people over the past three decades of intense repression”.
The party stressed upon the world human rights bodies to “shun the path of silence and take strong note of the situation Kashmiris are facing”. It extended condolence and sympathy with the family members of slain Asif.
