SRINAGAR: Kashmir High Court Bar Association while strongly condemning the “inhuman and barbaric” killing of a cab driver Asif Iqbal by army “in cross firing” at Thandipora, Kupwara, on Saturday night, has asked the international community to take notice of the “cold blooded murder” and put pressure on India to stop “genocide” of Kashmiri people and give them their right of self-determination “without any further bloodshed”.
Bar in a statement said though magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the killing, but unless the investigation of the FIR and the enquiry is supervised by an independent judicial officer of the rank of Sessions Judge, there is no possibility of bringing the culprits to book because in the past also such kind of magisterial enquiries and/or registration of FIRs have yielded no results.
The Association also denounced the issuing of notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani and termed it as a “revengeful and a malafide act”.
