PAMPORE: After the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar, the Muslim Educational Institute (MEI) Pampore on Saturday revoked the expulsion order of two teachers who were sacked on their wedding day.
The new order issued by the school reads “that in the light of the detailed discussion held with Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in his office chambers on Saturday on the request submitted by the representative applicants, the relieving/expulsion orders issued under No. MEIT/437-41 dated 02-12-2017 and order no. MEIT/437-41 dated 02-12-2017 shall be treated to have been withdrawn and the duo are allowed to resume their duties.”
The order was issued after the DC Pulwama made the two parties sign an agreement in his office.
The sacked teacher, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, said he was reluctant to re-join the school and intended to file a case of defamation and mental harassment.
“The humiliation has left me in such frustration that I am thinking of suicide,” he told Kashmir Reader.
He said that during the meeting at the DC’s office, one of the school management members, namely Ghulam Mohammad Darzi, made the comment: “What has now been done by you through the media.”
Tariq said he did not rely on a school management that has become prejudiced and vengeful against him.
“I will file a defamation case as my image has been tarnished. Every minute I get calls asking what wrong I have done,” Tariq said.
He said both he and his spouse were mentally harassed. “Every now and then we receive calls about our sacking from relatives and friends,” he said.
Ghulam Mohammad Darzi, member of the MEI management, denied that he had made any such comment as alleged by Tariq Bhat. The principal of MEI Pampore also said that Darzi had made no such comment.
Education Minister Altaf Bukhari had asked the school authorities to revoke the expulsion order of the teacher couple. The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) had also summoned the school principal to its office on Monday.
Meanwhile, an official spokesperson said that on the instructions of Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari the two suspended teachers of a private school of district Pulwama have been reinstated.
In this regard DDC Pulwama and CEO Pulwama discussed the issue with principal of the institution as the allegations levelled against the couple were found baseless by an investigation committee.
