Srinagar: Saying that allotment of 1600 kanals of land discreetly to army is a plot to change the demography of Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Milat on Saturday said ‘sinister move is unacceptable to Kashmiri’s, and must be opposed “tooth and nail.’
“The allotment of large chunk of land discreetly to army is a part of the chain of sinister policies India has been following overtly and covertly in Kashmir since 1947 to legitimize its illegal control ,” DeM general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, said in a statement.
She said: From 1947, while India has been trying to implement such anti-Kashmiri policies, subsequently Kashmiris launched opposing movements,” she added.
Nasreen further said that that it has been India’s trait to use all means to legitimize its illegal control of Kashmir. “Plots like transfer of land to Amarnath shrine board in 2008, establishment of separate colonies for Pandits or settling of non-locals in Kashmir by giving them PRCs are just a few examples,” she stated.
“The main issue is that India is an oppressor and has forcefully occupied Kashmir. India wants to merge the Kashmir into its territory,” she added.
Nasreen said that while it is imperative for Kashmiris to oppose the moves like the land transfer to the army, “they must also continue their resistance movement”
“India has been killing, maiming, torturing and jailing us. It has used bullets, pellets and all other brutal means to break our resolve. We cannot tolerate such acts and we are resisting these sinister policies by giving our blood and carrying forward the anti-India movement at all levels,” she said, adding, “We the people on the other hand must show resistance against such moves and also continue our freedom struggle until the end of Indian occupation.”
Meanwhile, Nasreen expressed sympathies and solidarity with the senior journalist, Zahir-ud-din, over the death of his mother, who passed away on Friday.
