Sports policy submitted to Govt for approval: DGP
Jammu: We are focusing on sports to channelize energies of youth in constructive purpose. This was stated by Director General of Police S P Vaid on the opening ceremony of Inter Zone Sports Meet at Gulshan Ground here, adding that J&K Police will continue to focus on sports as they are very important for police personnel.
Teams and athletes from six zones of Jammu and Kashmir state which include Armed Zone, Jammu Zone, Kashmir Zone, Training Zone, Intelligence/security Zone and CD/HG/SDRF Zone are participating in this sports meet.
while speaking on the occasion Vaid said that it was heartening to throw this event open. He said that sports are an important sector on which Jammu and Kashmir police will always focus.
He said sports is great stress buster activity and added that JK Police organised a number of sports events including Run for Fun, Dangal, Jashan-e-Dal, Martyrs football memorial tournament and number of other sports activities on District, Range, Zonal, State level for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to enhance their talent and channelize their energy towards the constructive fields and to prevent them from getting involved into drug abuse and other wrongful activates.
DGP informed that Jammu and Kashmir Police is conducting national level 66th B N Mullik Memorial all India Police football championship 2018 at Jammu from 1st to 11th February-2018 in which all the state level police teams besides CAPF teams are participating for which preparation are going on to conduct it smoothly.
He also informed that JK police has submitted a sports policy to government for approval, which will help in greater promotion of sports in J&K Police.
In his welcome address ADGP Armed, A.K Choudhary who is also Organizing secretary of the event said that Inter Zone Sports Meet-2017, will run for eight days from 16th to 23rd December-2017, in which both Men & Women participants will be seen in action, competing with each other in Basketball, Volleyball, Tug-of-War, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, Weightlifting, Football, Handball, Kabaddi, Wushu, Hockey, Shooting & Athletic, Besides, Gazetted Officers will also be seen in action in Shooting, Badminton, Table Tennis and Law Tennis.
IGP Armed Jammu S.A Watali in his address thanked the retired and serving officers for attending the inaugural function. He also thanked the players, supporting staff and media for making the opening ceremony a success.
