Teachers won’t be sacked: Bukhari
Srinagar: A day after the Muslim Educational Institute (MEI) Pampore sacked two teachers for marrying, Education minister Syed Altaf Bukhari on Friday said that the teachers would be retained in the school as they have not committed any wrong.
“By now the issue must have been resolved, if there is no other complaint (against the teachers) except for what was reported in newspapers,” Bukhari told Kashmir Reader.
Tariq Ahmad and his wife Sumaya Tariq, both residents of Arigam Tral, were teaching in MEI Pampore for several years. The school’s principal called Tariq on the day of his wedding with Sumaya and told him that he and his wife have been fired from their jobs.
“What is wrong even if they loved each other? They performed Nikah and their marriage was solmenised by their parents,” Bukhari said.
