Pulwama: A day after the Education minister Syed Altaf Bukhari said the teachers would be retained in the school as they have not committed any wrong, the services of the sacked couple working in the Muslim Educational Institute (MEI) Pampore were reinstated on Saturday, sources said.
Muslim Education Institute (MEI) Pampore reinstated the sacked teacher-couple on Saturday, sources said.
Sources told Kashmir Reader that Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar resolved the issue after calling the two parties to his office where he pressed the school management to reinstate the services of the newly married couple.
The couple was sacked by school management allegedly for romancing, an allegation they denied.
Tariq Ahmad and his wife Sumaya Tariq, both residents of Arigam Tral, were teaching in MEI Pampore for several years. The school authorities had dismissed Tariq and Sumaya on the day of their wedding.
J&K State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Friday took cognizance of a news report about the teacher couple’s sacking on their wedding day and had asked the principal, Tariq Ahmad Bhat of Muslim Education Institute to appear before it on Monday.
The sacked teacher couple had welcomed the decision of State Human Rights commission for summoning the school authorities.
