Man arrested for deleting DAK’s Facebook page

Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested a medical representative in connection with the removal of the Facebook page of Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK).
DAK president Dr Nissar ul Hassan said that their Facebook page had mysteriously disappeared on November 18, after which he lodged a complaint in Police Station Nigeen.
He said that two DAK members Dr Riyaz Ahmad Dagga and Shafiq Khanday received a notification on their personal accounts that they have been removed as page administrators. “I searched for our page but could not find it and had been deleted,” Hassan said adding that he later filed a complaint at Nigeen police station and cyber cell.
Police refused to reveal the identity of the man arrested in connection with the removal of Facebook page.
“I cannot share the details about the person for security reasons. I can only share FIR number (153/2017)” SHO Nigeen told Kashmir Reader.
SSP Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ismiel Parray referred this correspondent to SSP Hazratbal, Ashish Mishra, but Mishra also refused to share the details.
However DAK President identified the arrested person as a medical representative of a local drug company.
He said that he suspected a conspiracy against the association by people dealing with supurious drugs.
“We used our Facebook page to sensitize people about the use and spread of spurious drugs. We believe that our Facebook page was deleted by accused on the instructions of those who deal in spurious drugs in Kashmir Valley,” said Hassan.
