Jammu: The Court of Additional Session Judge, Anti-corruption, Jammu, on Wednesday convicted Gulzari Lal, in-charge foreman M&RE Janipur Jammu, who was caught red handed by the Vigilance Organization Jammu while accepting Rs. 8000 as illegal gratification from the complainant for shifting an electric line
The persecution has produced witnesses against the accused person, and after six years of long trail, the accused person has been convicted by the court with imprisonment and fine
The accused to undergo rigorous imprisonment of one year and to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 for the offences. In default of payment, the accused shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for one month. The court further mentioned in the judgment that that period already undergone by the accused shall be set off.
In year 2011, the Vigilance Organization Kashmir had registered FIR against Gulzari Lal, for offering illegal gratification of Rs. 10,000 from Pawan Kumar.
Pawan Kumar lodged a complaint in the Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, alleging that for shifting of electric line, which was crossing over his house, foreman Gulzari Lal visited the spot and demanded bribe for shifting electric line. After bargaining, the accused was ready to accept Rs. 8000 as illegal gratification from the complainant.
