SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Tuesday said Kashmiri women have immensely contributed and sacrificed during the “pious movement for freedom”. The statement has come in the backdrop of the killing of a woman, Misra, of Handwara, who was killed during a gunfight on Monday.
“The role of women in this anti-India movement has been equal to that of the men. Not only have the women lost their fathers, brothers, sons or husbands but have also laid their lives for this cause. They have made sacrifices directly as well as indirectly,” DeM general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, said in a statement.
“Women have been jailed, tortured and have also achieved martyrdom while pursuing this pious cause,” Nasreen said. “Misra’s sacrifice is yet another example of how women along with their men have been targeted by the Indian occupational forces.”
She said the sacrifice of Misra and thousands of Kashmiri women like her will never go waste. “These sacrifices will one day lead us towards our goal of achieving freedom from the brutal Indian occupation,” she said and also paid glowing tributes to militants killed in the encounter.
DeM general secretary said people must understand that “India is not only the enemy of Mujahideen but of every Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir. India only wants the land of Kashmir to continue its barbaric rule”.
Nasreen said the baby girl of Misra is craving for milk. “India must understand that its brutalities only strengthen our resolve and weakens its illegal occupation,” she said.
“Kashmiris should remain united and continue their fight against the illegal Indian occupation. We have to remain steadfast and should not aid India or its forces in any manner. To throw out these enemies from Kashmir, every person here has to play its role with dedication.”
