JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner, Dr Mandeep K Bhandari reviewed disaster management preparedness plan of various districts on Tuesday.
The meeting discussed procurement of rescue equipment’s, community based disaster management, inventory of resources, critical infrastructure, emergency operations centers besides financial aspects and other vital issues.
Dr Bhandari stressed upon the need for close coordination among different departments. He asked the concerned DCs to identify land for establishment of dedicated Emergency Operation Centres to minimize damages during disasters.
He also called for chalking out effective strategies for revamping district disaster management plan including sensitization of people regarding preventive measures for disaster mitigation, holding mock drills in educational institutions, organizing capacity building and skill development programmes at district level and involving district Red Cross Society in the exercise.
Dr. Bhandari asked the DCs to gainfully utilize funds provided under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and submit utilization certificates (UCs) to the concerned quarters at the earliest. He also asked the DCs to submit list of requirements to his office for further course of action.
