JKP for promotion of sports activities: DIG North
SRINAGAR: A month long “North Kashmir Range Level Sports Festival” on Saturday concluded at Showket Ali Stadium Baramulla with Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir V K Birdhi as the chief guest.
SSPs of Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara, officers from police and civil administration and a huge gathering of students were present on the occasion.
Pertinent to mention that the festival was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police which witnessed the overwhelming response from the young and aspiring players from the three districts of Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara of North Kashmir.
A series of events including cricket, volleyball, football, kho-kho, kabbadi, washu, kick boxing, race and various other events under different categories were organized during the period.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG hails the participants and said that such events provides platform for our youth and the need of the hour is to organize such events with more frequency.
He said that such events bridges the gap between people and police and sought public support in developing sports activities in the area.
Reiterating its commitment for promoting sports activities, DIG said that police department is in its extreme endeavors in entangling more and more youth in sports activities.
He also said that these types of events helps our youth in keeping distance from ill and hazardous practices besides maintaining their physical fitness.
SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, in his welcome address expressed gratitude of various civil departments and councils in making the festival a success and said that various initiatives have been taken by the police department in channelizing the potential of our youth.
Later prizes were distributed among various players who excelled in different events organized during the period.
