NIA detains Pulwama youth in alleged LeT case

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Pulwama youth for his alleged connection with militant activities.

The arrest has been made with assistance of J&K Police.

Reports quoting IG NIA, Alok Mittal, said that probe agency arrested Tauseef Ahmed Malik, 25, son of Abdul Rashid Malik, r/o Chandgam Pulwama on Saturday “in case RC-20/2017/NIA/DLI related to the activists of LeT in India”.

Mittal said earlier NIA had arrested Nayeem alias Sohail of Aurangabad in this case.

“The role of Tauseef about his association with LeT had surfaced during the interrogation of the accused Nayeem,” IG said in a statement.

“He has been in touch with LeT militants operating in Pulwama.

He has also remained in contact with Nayeem since March 2017 when Nayeem had visited Pulwama and stayed with LeT militants for 3 months,” Mittal said.

“The accused was produced in the court of CJM Pulwama which granted his transit remand for four days,” he said adding that the accused will be brought to Delhi and produced before the NIA Special Court at Patiala House.
