BUDGAM: Traffic came to standstill on Srinagar-Chadoora road after scores of residents from Chadoora town staged a protest on Saturday morning against the Power Development Department (PDD) demanding a higher capacity electric transformer.
Aqib Dar a local resident said the protestors raised slogans against senior officers of PDD “for making tall promises to the public when the ground reality regarding their service is different”.
He said that in the absence of power supply, school children are unable to prepare for annual examinations.
The protestors said that the electric transformer installed in their town had low capacity and hence getting damaged frequently.
Abdul Aziz, a protestor, said that there was no schedule for power supply to their localities and demanded intervention of higher authorities.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Chadoora sub-division Irshad Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that they visited the spot and assured protestors that their grievance would be “kept in consideration”.
