SRINAGAR: To discuss the preparation for the replacement of the existing treasury system with modern Pay and Accounts Office (PAO) mechanism, Director General (DG) Accounts and Treasuries, Altaf Hassan Mirza held an interactive session here on Wednesday.
Heads of various Departments, Chief Engineers, besides representatives of Chamber of Commerce Kashmir, Traders Association and Contractors and other concerned were present on the occasion.
According to an official handout, the DG apprised the meeting participants about the benefits of the new system and the ways it would speed up the development of the state. He said, “The new system besides being easy will root out corruption and will make it easier to see real-time progress of all developmental projects.”
As Ministry of Finance was proposing to bring radical reforms in the payment system of the state by switching over to PAO system, the ministry had desired to take all the stakeholders on board before the new system was rolled out by the finance department, the handout further read.
The DG Accounts and Treasuries also delivered a detailed presentation and answered various queries and observations of the participants about the proposed system, it added.
