Kupwara: An important administrative chair in Kupwara district has been lying vacant for months, leaving people to suffer on account.
Sources in the administration said the post of additional district development commissioner (ADDC) has been lying vacant for several months, leading to delay in developmental works.
People requiring basic services like a state subject certificate are also suffering.
“I applied for state subject certificate in the office of the ADC Kupwara around two months ago but due to the non availability of officer the clerks cannot issue the certificate. Like me hundreds of other students too applied for the certificate but we have no option but to wait,” Javid Ahmad, a student of Kupwara town said while appealing government to send an officer as soon as possible.
A senior officer of Kupwara district admitted said people were facing problems in the absence of officer, and urged the General Administrative Department to post the officer as soon as possible. He said that the deputy commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir was looking after the work, but it was not possible for him to reach all the places.
