Srinagar: Scores of youth recruited under the new job policy on Sunday held a protest demonstration in Press enclave demanding revocation of SRO-202.
The protesting employees described the SRO 202 as ‘discriminatory’ saying its clauses 8 and 9 have already been repealed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court for its employees, which has been implemented by the Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Department (IMPA), thus giving much needed respite to the employees.
The employees appointed under SRO 202 have to serve government for 5 years at least when they shall get their full salaries against the post they are employed.
Terming the New Job Policy as ‘draconian’, the enraged protesters demanded revocation of the policy.
“This is a draconian job policy that forces highly educated youth t work against a meager salary of Rs 7000 to Rs 8000 per month” Arif Hussain one of the protesting employees said.
“The New Job Policy is totally against the Supreme Court guidelines which invoked minimum wages act and equal pay for equal work judgment,” another protester said. “We believe the SRO 202 is against the laid-down rule of law as it violates the basic right of equal pay to equal work,” observed another employee.
The protesters also expressed dismay over the recent notification of J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for Kashmiri migrants which was kept out of this New Job Policy (SRO 202).
They impressed upon chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally look in to the issue.
