Srinagar: Four army men were killed and one seriously injured in a road accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Banihal area of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
An official said that four army men were killed when a car (bearing registration number JK 02 N 6332) they were travelling in met with an accident near Shatani nallah.
Three people, including two police personnel, were killed and seven others were injured in road accidents in Kupwara and Pulwama.
In Kupwara, two persons were killed and four others injured after their car skidded and fell into a stream in the Kralpora area, a police spokesman said.
The deceased have been identified as Head Constable Habibullah Lone and Ruqaiya Begum, he said.
In the other accident, two cars collided at the Barsoo area in Pulwama, killing a police constable and injuring three others, the spokesman said.
Constable Farooq was declared brought dead by doctors at a hospital in the district, he said.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Munir Ahmad Khan has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the police personnel and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls, the spokesman said.
