Sheikh Hameed’s father no more

Srinagar: Abdul Kabir Sheikh, in his late sixties, breathed his last on late Thursday evening.
The deceased was father of slain militant commander, Sheikh Hameed, who was one of the four militants of HAJY group that introduced anti-india armed insurgency in Kashmir in 1989.
A close relative of Sheikhs said that Kabir breathed his last this evening.
People from all walks of life reached his house in Danderkhah, Batamaloo and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
Kabir is survived by wife, four daughters and a son.
In the heydays of militancy. Sheikh Kabir was involved in social service and figured among the most prominent figures in capital Srinagar. After his son’s death. he devoted himself to the social cause and usually showed up at last rites of slain militants. Sheikh Kabir gradually went into oblivion in the sebsequent years.
