Srinagar: J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar Thursday condemned the blasting of a house and firing bullets and pellets on the civilians in Futlipora village of Pakherpora District Budgam by forces.
The Bar Association also condemned the ‘reign of terror unleashed by the army in Aglar Kandi Pulwama and picking of youth on daily basis and directing them to report at Shadimarg Camp’.
“We also condemn thrashing of Shiraz Ahmad Lone and his brother and hurling of abuses and insulting the elderly people who had accompanied them to the camp,” statement said.
The Bar Association also condemned the thrashing of Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in District Jail Kathua and also declaring him mentally unfit and for giving him treatment for the said mental disease “He has no such mental disability, but has been described as mentally ill by the authorities to justify the ill treatment and thrashing given to him, inside the jail,” statement issued by Bar states.
The Bar Association reiterating its stand that all those detenues, who are detained under the provisions of Public Safety Act, should be lodged in the jails nearer to their residence, so that members of their family, relatives and friends are able to meet them and provide them food, clothing and other necessities of life without any difficulty and also to interact with them, as and when it is required, statement added.
The statement further said that Abdul Samad Inqilabi, who is a resident of Sonawari, has been detained under the provisions of PSA by District Magistrate Pulwama, without any authority or power and has directed his lodgment at District Jail Kathua in fragrant violation of the aforesaid principle of law, which has been authoritatively laid down by a Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court in case titled A.K.Roy v. Union of India, reported in AIR 1982 SC 710.
“The Bar Association has already brought the aforesaid disobedience of the directions of the Supreme Court and also the ill treatment meted out to the detunes and under trial prisoners in different jails of the State, including the one meted out to Abdul Samad Inqilabi to the notice of the High Court in the case filed by his brother, against his order of detention passed by District Magistrate, Pulwama and the Court while taking serious notice of the thrashing given to Abdul Samad Inqilabi by the Jail Authorities of District Jail Kathua, has called a report from the authorities concerned and has fixed the case on 07.12.2017, for further orders” statement added.
Meanwhile Bar will organize Seerat Conference on Saturday at 1:30 p.m in Prayer Hall of the Bar Association at District Court Complex, Moominabad Batamaloo,
In this connection the work in the courts shall remain suspended from 1:00 p.m. onwards, statement said.
