Srinagar: A fierce gunfight between militants and government forces broke out Thursday in central Kashmir, official sources said.
The gunfight erupted at village Fultipora, Pakharpora of Budgam district, they said.
The gunfight triggered early in Pakharpora area after forces launched an operation, they said.
The army, paramilitary and police contingents cordoned off the area on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants. As the contingents moved closer to the suspected area, it was fired upon, triggering a gunfight, they said.
The gunfight was underway when reports last came in, local sources said. They added that soon after the gunfight started mobile internet services were snapped in the Budgam district.
