BARAMULLA: The 8-km road from Noorkhah to Lachipora in border town Uri is in dilapidated conditions due to the negligence of successive regimes.
“The bad condition of the road is keeping the public transporters away from it. Hundreds of employees, students, patients are facing lot of hardships due to bumpy road marked by potholes,” locals said.
The residents of three villages including Bijhama, Lachipora, Manyan are dependent on the road, but despite repeatedly knocking power corridors, officials have yet to macadamize the road, locals added.
The District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nisar Ahmad Naqash said that he will take up the issue with concerned officials. “Some people had donated their land for the construction and widening of the road, now they want to be compensated. I will direct revenue officials to identify the land and compensation will be paid accordingly. Then only work will be start on the road. ”
