PULWAMA: People of Aglar Kandi Pulwama Wednesday protested against harassment of government forces in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office Pulwama leading to the blockade of Shopian- Pulwama road.
Protesters said that forces have unleashed a reign of terror in the village and are picking up youth on a daily basis.
The residents said their ordeal started with the killing of three Jaish militants in the village on November 6.
“On the same day forces confiscated mobile phones of many youth and asked them to report to Shadimarg camp. They were beaten to pulp in the camp and many were hospitalised,” they said.
The protesters said that from that day army men are regular in the village. However few days earlier the army men asked a youth Sheeraz Ahmad Lone to report to the camp.
“He did not dare to visit the camp alone so many elderly people including his brother Ghulam Mohammad (55), Sarpanch and Panch of the village accompanied him,” one of the protesters told Kashmir Reader.
They were asked to wait only to see thrashing of the two brothers and others accompanying them were abused and insulted.
The Lone brothers were admitted in Primary Health Centre Pakherpora and later referred to Pulwama district hospital.
The protestors said they were compelled to come on roads against the army handedness.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar pacified the protesters and assured them that they won’t be harassed in future.
“I took up the issue with concerned commanding officer and Police officials.
Their might have been some misunderstanding and it has been cleared and if somebody would harass you hereafter the administration would take action against them,” he said.
