SRINAGAR: Expressing serious concern over the reports of thrashing and injuring several Kashmiri inmates in Tihar jail, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has said the “ghastly act” has put the lives of all Kashmiri political prisoners including its ailing chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah in danger.
In a statement, the party said beating and injuring prisoners inside jails is a “shameful act” and needs not only condemnation but direct action from human rights groups.
The party urged the international human rights groups to take serious note of it. “The woeful tale of miseries and tortures of Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar jail is a serious concern for us,” DFP said. “The jail authorities of Tihar are unnecessarily harassing and thrashing detainees on one pretext or the other.”
