PULWAMA: Residents, shopkeepers of Rajpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday observed complete shutdown in protest against beating up of two civilians by the government forces in the village on Sunday evening.
The army during an operation had gone berserk and beaten many youths at the village, two of them severely. The injured youth identified as Mudasir Ahmad Wani and Aasif Ahmad were later shifted to SMHS hospital for further treatment.
The incident occurred on a day when government’s special representative on Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma was on a visit to Pulwama.
The residents have demanded a through inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, police sources told Kashmir Reader that no FIR has been launched into the incident and police was investigating the reasons behind beating up of youth in the village. Rajpora
is native village of state’s finance minister Haseeb Drabu who won the 2014 assembly election from the constituency.
