SRINAGAR: Expressing serious concern over the “grisly act” of thrashing of Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar jail, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Tuesday said all prisons outside Jammu and Kashmir “have been exactly turned into the iniquitous Guantanamo Bay”.
Reacting to the reports of beating of 18 prisoners including ShahidYousuf, the son of UJC chief Syed Salahuddin, in Tihar jail, the DeM general secretary NahidaNasreen said “although Shahid does not have any case registered to his name but he is being harassed and was attacked for being the son of Syed Salahuddin”.
She said that such “heinous” treatment is being given to Kashmir to frighten them and to break their resolve. “We want to remind (authorities) that we have given sacrifices in lakhs for the pious cause and will never succumb,” she said.
She said the thrashing of inmates in Tihar jail is not a new thing and has been happening for a long time with “purpose”. “It is being done under a well thought out conspiracy by the people with bigoted mindset,” she said.
