JAMMU: The coming budget session of the J&K Legislative Assembly will be the “trial debut” of a paperless “e-assembly”. The session will begin in January 2018.
The IT department has already distributed Apple i-pads to all MLAs, MLCs, administrative secretaries, and other officers to view and download questions and answers in a digital format. The IT department has installed two servers in the state data centre to make this e-assembly happen, an official statement said.
The announcement was made in a meeting chaired by the Speaker to review the progress of e-Assembly project. The meeting was attended by Secretary IT, Saugat Biswas, Secretary to Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Secretary Assembly, MR Singh, Additional Secretary IT, SK Gupta, senior officers from J&KEGA, NIC, and other officers.
In the meeting it was informed that the department is ready with a Question Answer Management System that will soon be introduced to its users. The department is working on other areas such as work flow section of the software program, which is in progress and is expected to be automated soon.
Officers further apprised that questions raised during the assembly session will be uploaded and respective secretaries can download and upload their answers through an online system. The speeches, budget, resolution and other related information will be available on the government’s website.
