Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday appealed the United Nations Human Rights Group, Amnesty International and International Committee of Red Cross to take strong note of the torture and severe beating of Kashmiri prisoners by the jail authorities at Tihar Jail.
“Physical torture of Kashmiri inmates in #TiharJail, is a clear violation of fundamental, human and legal rights of prisoners who have been subjected to severe beating by the jail authorities. we appeal @UNHumanRights, @amnesty @ICRC to take strong note & intervene in this matter,” tweeted Mirwaiz.
Mirwaiz said that the torture of Kashmiri inmates is a clear violation of fundamental, human and legal rights of prisoners.
A unit of Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP), a committee constituted by Delhi High Court has found, has allegedly beaten as many as 18 jail inmates of Tihar jail, among whom most are Kashmiri prisoners including the son of Syed Salahuddin namely Shahid Yousuf.
