Srinagar: A special court of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Monday extended the judicial remand of Shahid Yousuf in an alleged Hawala funding case till December 22.
Shahid is the son of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salahauddin. He was arrested on October 24 when he was called for questioning to Delhi by the NIA.
Shahid applied for bail but “the court kept it pending”, his counsel Jawahar Raja told Kashmir Reader.
Sources privy to the court proceedings told Kashmir Reader that the court actually rejected the bail application of Shahid on the grounds that his brothers were taking care of his family back home.
Shahid was produced before district and sessions judge Poonam A Bamba at around 11:45am at Patiala House Court Complex, from where he was brought back to Tihar Jail at about 1:30pm, the sources added.
