Baramulla: The cordon and search operation in several areas of Kupwara district including Zurhama Lolab and Keran sector entered the sixth day on Sunday, with army, police, CRPF and other troops searching the dense forests where they believe militants to be hiding.
Sources said that army and police installed dozens of check posts and all private and passenger vehicles were checked on the main road as well as link roads.
Meanwhile, a cordon and search operation launched by government troops in the upper belt of Handwara on Saturday afternoon entered into its second day.
The troops had received information of presence of a group of four militants in the area, after which the cordon and search was launched, a police official said. However, there has been no suspicious movement detected so far, he added.
