SRINAGAR: The joint resistance leadership has reiterated its appeal for complete shutdown today against the growing “state-terrorism” and to highlight the “oppressive measures” by authorities.
In a statement, the leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said the “gruesome atrocities” committed by government forces across north and south Kashmir are crossing limits and the condition of thousands of “innocents” languishing in jails and police stations is worsening with each passing day.
“Kashmiris are always protesting against these human rights violations and (the) strike call is intended for highlighting these oppressive measures,” the leadership said. “Indian occupational forces have unleashed a reign of terror across whole valley especially south and north Kashmir where crackdowns, vandalising properties, beating, torturing common people, arrests and other oppressive measures have became an order of the day.”
“Similarly NIA and ED terrorism is also going on through which Indians intend to defeat our resistance. Thousands of Kashmiris have been put into jails and torture centers where these people are terrorised and intimidated. From Tihar jail to jails of Jammu Kashmir, Kashmiri leaders and other people are being put to worst hardships. (We) appeal for a complete shutdown against these atrocities.”
