Shopkeeper, minor boy ruthlessly beaten up

SRINAGAR: Army has allegedly beaten up a shopkeeper and a minor in Rajpora area of Pulwama on Sunday, family alleged. The victims have been shifted to a Srinagar hospital.
According to the family, Mudasir Ahmad Wani , who is a shopkeeper in the main chowk Rajpora, was mercilessly beaten up by army personnel of Shadimarg camp.
“My nephew was working at his shop when army men came to his shop. They caught him and started beating him without any reason. He was later bundled in an army vehicle and again assaulted,” victim’s maternal uncle, Ghulam Qadir told Kashmir Reader over phone.
He said another victim, a 13-year-old boy Asif Ahmad has also been injured when army men kicked him out of an army vehicle after beating him to a pulp.
“The army personnel of Shadimarg camp were returning from a nearby village when they went berserk at Rajpora market. They started chasing people and beating them. Mudasir and Asif have been injured during the incident,” Qadir said.
Asif had fractured his sacrum bones due to the assault.
Doctors at SMHS Hospital said while the victims were stable, they need close observation for at least 24 hours.
“We will shift both of them to Bone and Joint Hospital soon as the assault has impacted some of the vital bones,” said a doctor, wishing anonymity.
