Dalipora residents decry lack of basic facilities

Pulwama: Residents of Dalipora Pulwama Saturday blocked Srinagar-Pulwama road against lack of water and power supply in their area.
The residents blamed authorities for not providing them drinking water and electricity. However the protesters left after assurances from concerned officials who visited them.
Executive Engineer PHE, Pulwama-Shopian division Nisar Ahmad Shah told Kashmir Reader that water table is record low this year, resulting in drying of springs and other water sources.
“The situation is same everywhere and we have used water tankers to supply water to the areas where the water supply has got affected,” he said, adding that due to recent rains the water table is expected to rise and the problem would get resolved soon.
Meanwhile Executive Engineer Pulwama, PDD Gulzar Ahmad also said that the low water level in the rivers have resulted in erratic power supply.
He said that the PDD consumers are also not behaving as rational consumers as extra load is reported even from areas where meters have been installed.
