Funeral prayers for slain militants in Pampore

PAMPORE: The residents of Pampore led by on Friday offered funeral prayers in absentia for militants slain in different encounters in Kashmir Valley during past few days. The prayers were led by Mirwaiz Moulana Riyaz Hamdani.
Scores of people gathered in the lawns of Khankah-e-Moula Pampore soon after the culmination of weekly congregational prayers and offered funeral prayers in absentia for the slain militants in Bandipora, Kupwara, Kulgam and Pulwama districts of Kashmir valley during the month of November.
Later, they carried a peaceful protest rally to main Chowk Namblabal amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat appealed to people of Pampore through posters pasted on the main gate of Ziyarat Shareef Pampore to offer funeral prayers for the slain militants.
Meanwhile, government forces on Friday resorted to aerial firing to disperse people who were protesting against the removal of banners of slain militant Adil Ahmad Chopan, a resident of Lurow Jageer in Tral sub-district.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that army restored to aerial firing after protesting people pelted stones on them as they tried to remove banners of slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant Adil near his residence.
Adil was killed in a brief gunfight with government forces in Seer Jageer village of Tral on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people from different areas of Tral on Friday gathered at the slain militant’s native village and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family. Normal life was restored in Tral area after three days of shutdown following the teenage militant’s killing.
