With 120 students on roll school becoming a model
SHOPIAN: With 120 students on roll, Government Middle School Pargochi in Shopian district is turning out to be model school in the district.
Pargochi village has 110 households and majority of the children from the village study in the school. It has the highest roll for a government school in the zone.
On Thursday the school celebrated its annual day where Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian, Muhammad Sadiq announced model status for the school.
Tehsildar Imamsahib, Niyaz Ahmad and zonal education officers of Shopian and Imamsahib were also present on the occasion. CEO Sadiq lauded the teachers for their dedication and said that a computer lab would be established in the school and the school premises would be fenced soon.
The school administration demanded two more class rooms, which the CEO assured would be provided soon.
Headmaster Showkat Ahmad Lone said that most of the students pass outs were doing their best.
“Among these students several students got distinction in matric and 12th class board exams,” he said.
Prizes were distributed by chief education officer among the meritorious students including Jali Pandita who got first position in class 6th at cluster level, where exams of dozen of private schools were also held.
However, some villagers were unhappy that the teachers were sending their own children to private schools.
“Sending their children to private schools smells fishy, it means that these teachers are not dedicated towards their job and that is why they prefer their wards to go to private schools,” a villager said adding that government should order government teachers to admit their children in government schools.
