Militants offer gun salute to slain colleagues at Hajin
Bandipora: A shutdown was observed in several villages of Bandipora locality on Tuesday as army allegedly resorted to aerial firing to disperse protesters.
Locals said that a cavalcade of army vehicles was pelted with stones on Tuesday morning at Saderkoot Bala. The troops opened fire to disperse the stone-throwers.
Amid shutdown for the third consecutive day, protests were also reported from Chadargeer village, where the army, as per the local sources “came to visit the encounter site” where six militants were killed on Sunday.
The locals pelted them with stones and shouted pro-freedom slogans. The army resorted to ariel firing to disperse the protesters,” sources said.
In the evening clashes erupted at Ahaa village between the class X students and the government forces soon after the students came out from examination centers. The police resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the student protesters.
The officials, however, denied reports of aeriel firing in Chandergeer village. At Ajas, the police sources said “the clashes were minor and ended shortly”.
Meanwhile, the sources said that a group of militants again appeared in Hajin locality on Tuesday evening and offered gun salute to their slain colleagues. The locals shouted pro Lashkar slogans on seeing the armed rebellions and marched with them in the town. They were shouted that one of the militants Mehmood Bhai, whom the government forces claimed to have been killed in Saturday encounter, was alive. Mehmood is reportedly the ‘divisional commander’ of LeT outfit.
