Property worth crores gutted in Anantnag

Anantnag: Several residential and commercial structures were gutted in a massive blaze in Reshi bazaar Anantnag during Sunday night.
Reports said that property worth crores of rupees gutted during the inferno, which the fire tenders, took several hours to douse.
According to the locals and eyewitnesses, the fire was spotted by the locals in a residential house, adjacent to a shop, at about 1:00 am late Sunday night.
“We do not know the cause of the fire but it looked like the fire emerged from a residential house which has been completely gutted now and spread to other adjacent buildings in no time at all,” locals told Kashmir Reader.
Locals also said that fire tenders were called over phone but no response from their side forced the locals to rush to the fire services centre nearby and bring the fire tenders in.
“By then the fire had spread to other buildings as well,” the locals said.
Six buildings housing both residential and commercial sections were gutted in the fire.
“We are assessing the quantum of loss and the cause of fire. The loss will surely be in crores,” a senior official of the administration told Kashmir Reader.
