Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Doctors’ Coordination Committee (JKDCC) on Monday slammed the Government for appointing a blue-eyed doctor as Principal AMT College, Kupwara by violating service rules.
“It is unfortunate that government has ignored the merit by appointing an influential doctor as Principal of a premier institution. This will set a wrong trend in the Health Department because it is discouraging for hardworking and talented doctors. Dr Mir Muhammad Iqbal who was appointed on the coveted post is a junior most among of Medical Officers,” said Dr Mir Mushtaq, Spokesperson of JKDCC.
Dr Mir Muhammad Iqbal, who is posted as Principal AMT School, Kupwara is a brother of PDP MP, Fayaz Mir.
“Dr Iqbal is one of junior most medical officers in health department as he has been appointed as Medical Officer in 2014. He was given the plum posting because his brother is an MP. In his appointment the government has ignored the merit and seniority of hundreds of doctors,” Dr Mushtaq said.
