Dept conducts market checking in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The enforcement squad of Food, Civil, Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department during its 2 week-long checking of various Srinagar markets realised Rs 70,650 from erring traders.
According to an official handout issued on Monday, the enforcement squad conducted market checking from November 1 to 16 and visited around 475 business establishments at Barzulla, Bagh-e-Mehtab, Sanat Nagar, Astanpora, Jahangir Chowk, Court Road, Koni Khann, Sonwar, Batwara, Brain, Harwan, Paal Pora, Khanyar, Rainawari, Jogi Lanker, Saida Kadal, Asahi Bagh, Nigeen, Hazratbal, Noor Bagh, Qamarwari, Parimpora, HMT, Batamaloo, Tengpora Bypass, Natipora, Chanapora and Bemina areas. Around 171 erring shopkeepers were penalised during the drive and fined for violating Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the handout read.
