DeM hails Pak sponsored resolution in UNGA

SRINAGAR: Hailing the steps taken by Pakistan for introducing the right to self-determination resolution in United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Monday said keeping in view the historical context of Kashmir dispute, Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN Maleeha Lodhi has portrayed the “true picture” of Jammu and Kashmir.
“At a time when the world community has turned a blind eye towards the agonies of Kashmiris, the strenuous efforts of Pakistan have succeeded in introducing the resolution in the UN General Assembly,” DeM general secretary Nahida Nasreen said in a statement.
She urged Pakistan to further strengthen its diplomatic missions and create more awareness about the vexed Kashmir issue. “Pakistan should present its position on Kashmir issue as a party to it and forcefully raise it at the (UN) General Assembly session.”
She said New Delhi has pushed the people and leadership in Kashmir to the wall and under such circumstances, Pakistan has more responsibility to actively play its role.
Meanwhile, Nasreen paid glorious tributes to slain militant Adil Ahmad Chopan of Laraw Jageer, Tral, saying “the martyrdom of Adil will bear fruits and the people of Kashmir will surely see the dawn of freedom”.
